Oh, The Places We’ve Seen
These are some of the places we have absolutely loved during our travels.
Rome, Italy
Probably the most beautiful city we have visited in our travels. No city brings together history, architecture, people, food and culture like Rome. Just going for an evening walk is a pleasure. You can turn a corner and suddenly be in an elegant piazza with a historic statue or fountain. Pizza with great wine that is cheaper than soda. And those gelatarias!
Melbourne, Australia
A hip, cosmopolitan city that is also relaxed and fun. It has great cafes, an active cultural life and is close to great natural attractions.
Machu Picchu, Peru
Without a doubt one of the wonders of the modern world, this ancient Inca site has the most well preserved ruins in the most amazing location, bar none. Sitting there in the evening after the crowds departed, we could feel the wonder and awe that those visiting this sacred place must have felt. Surrounded by the Andes, you feel like you are in a different world, far away from the modern, a world where mother earth rules.
Santorini, Greece
An exotic, romantic island that will dazzle you with its whitewashed cliffside buildings, azure waters and fun social scene. Perfect for an escape.
Nafplio, Greece
An unexpected treasure, it is a picturesque little port town that is a great place to relax in. And it has one of the best gelato shops.
Prague, Czech Republic
The atmosphere and mood of this city still steeped in history is just extraordinary. Arriving there on a rainy day, the walk to the Charles Bridge takes you back to another era. The clouds linger on the bridge, shrouding the many statues lining the walls of the bridge, making them come alive as they emerge from the mist while you walk on the shiny stones, greeting you. Remembering that night still sends a shiver of excitement down my spine.
New York City, USA
OK, so it isn’t a place we went on our travels. But we live here because it is the greatest city in the world. Everyone has to experience New York in all its glory.
