My Brother, A Movie Star in the Making
This is just crazy. On Friday, the Bollywood movie ‘Rocket Singh, Salesman of the Year‘ is going to be released, and my brother Naveen Kaushik has a significant role in the movie. It’s a big release, coming out of one of the most prestigious production houses in India. As you can imagine, everyone in my family is pretty excited. Not only is the movie releasing all over India, but it will also be opening right here in the US, and I am hoping to get together a family outing to go watch the movie. I’ve been monitoring the Moviefone listing for the movie, and while showtimes are still not out, it was really cool to see my brothers name listed 5th in the cast.

It’s the first movie in which my brother has a major role (he had a bit part in the 2008 megahit ‘Dev D‘, playing the protagonists lawyer). I’ve heard his stories about bumming a smoke from Shah Rukh Khan, and meeting the megastars of Indian cinema in the commissary at Yashraj Films. But the reality of it never really sunk in. Now the movie is coming out, he’s visible in the promotional material for the film, and featured on the movie’s website. I have to say all this is kind of surreal. I’ll be seeing my kid brother on the silver screen (I saw Dev D on DVD, so it was not the same), fulfilling a dream he has been working hard towards for a number of years now.
For fun, I combined all the wallpapers you can find on the movie website into one that features Naveen exclusively. Check it out below (click for a larger version).

All the best to your brother. I will definitely watch this movie.
Some early reviews:
- The actor with the handle bar moustache playing Nitin Rathore is yet another amazing discovery. His body language and attitude has turned out just perfect.
- Naveen Kaushik and D. Santosh have done a great job along with Manish Chaudhary.
- Naveen Kaushik is super as the uniquely sideburned Nitin Rathore, a sales shark who really knows what he’s doing
Can’t wait to watch the movie!
Hi,
I caught this movie (1st day 1st show) and HAD to google Navin Kaushik (who is this guy??) and stumbled across your blog. He is JUST FANTASTIC in the movie. Hoping to see more of him in the future.
All the best (and Oh lucky you !
Manorama
Dude, your young brother was rocking in the movie. He was just out of the corporate room..sharp, tounge twisting, mean and a jet setter..hated by all, loved by the boss!! I wish to see more from him in coming days..since bollywood is changing its way from candyfloss gimmicks, am sure more hidden pearls will come out in daylight soon.
Regarding the movie 75% of the movie is very good, and rest 25% (the last part) is okay.
Hi, Like all others who have responded, I too had to google the charachter Nitin Rathore, to know the actor and more about him. He did play the role to perfection and I have been following your blogs about him. Some of my younger friends have even developed ‘crushes’ on him (on a lighter vein!)Pls convey our regards to him and also to put more information on his Website (Or is it a strategy to keep people guessing for more)Well looking forward to interacting on line with the ‘Guy himself’.
Hi…I’ll second everything said above.. he was Fantastic! Even for a ranbeer fan like me, I kept waiting for “Nitin” to come back to the screen.. loved the sly smiles, the style and the mean streak!
