U2 in Concert = Magnificent!

Last night, I was lucky enough to catch U2 in concert as part of their 360 tour. It was amazing, easily the best concert I have ever been to (and I’ve been to some good ones). The mood in Giants stadium was electric, and U2 certainly knew how to get the crowd going. We were on our feet through most of the concert, especially for some of the old favorites like “Where the Streets Have No Name”, “Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” and “Elevation”, which were mixed in with great tracks from the latest album, like “Magnificent” and “Unknown Caller”. Some of the great moments were U2 dedicating “Sunday Bloody Sunday” to the revolution in Iran, and “Walk On” to imprisoned Nobel peace prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi, complete with accompanying imagery and volunteers on stage.

Oh yeah, the stage. That stage is definitely one of the most incredible ever put together for a musical concert. Everyone in the stadium had a great view of the action. The giant spaceship/crab/gizmo (whatever it looks like to you) shape definitely evoked an other worldly feel. And that stretching video screen gave the stage a life of its own. Definitely took the whole performance to a whole new level. Click on the photographs to see a slideshow of photographs from the show.

And check out the video below to get a feel for just how amazing it was to be at Giants stadium. U2 was in my list of acts I absolutely had to catch live during my lifetime, and they did not disappoint.
